Cedar Hill "Merry meet, traveler. Pray thee be well. Behold the glistening luminescence of the fae"? The former seat of the Kingdom of Nova Regnus, Cedar Hill is a collective of like-minded individuals who want to see Osterra grow in a healthy and positive manner. Through services such as healing the blasted lands and returning magic back to Osterra, they seek to redeem the honor of the former King Foster. The lands of Cedar Hill, once known as the Throne of Osterra, shall soon become known as the premier purveyors of luxury, relaxation, and libation. Leadership The leadership in Cedar Hill is largely democratic but is headed by Stewardess Imra, Master of Elixirs. Look and Feel Cedar Hill is the home of the Great Encampment, where many entering the world through the portal will find themselves in. As such, there are many kinds of people that walk their lands. This is reflected in the faction as there are no set looks as Cedar Hill encourages individuality in all their members. In fact, while they do ask that member participate in faction activities as often as they can, they discourage sacrificing a member’s sense of self for the faction. One thing members of Cedar Hill will have in common though, is that they wear a white belt flag with a green chevron on it. Depending on the main class of the individual, an additional chevron of a class-specific color may be added to the flag. What type of players/play style might enjoy your faction. Cedar Hill does not seek conflict has many opportunities for non-combat roles. As such, roleplay heavy people would enjoy this faction. How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction: Roleplay: “We are very roleplay heavy and very story heavy. We also love instigating in-character drama.” Combat: “We have close ties with other factions in which we fight alongside in battle, either in our favor or theirs.”

The Wardens "A fool strikes. A Warden smiles, watches, and learns. Then strikes." Background: The Wardens started as a group of rangers who served their King in the wilds. However, as their King cared little for the world beyond its own realm, the Wardens have taken the duty of protecting the people and enforcing common law in the wilds. Since then, this has turned into a volunteer corps that takes in people willing to support the actions and goals of the realm. They also aim to serve as mediation and battle tactics for other factions. As mentioned, their goal is to enforce common law for the people. Leadership: The Wardens are led by the Knight of the Realm, Sir Randy. Assisting in his leadership are Wade, Master of Coin, who oversees the harvest, coin, and the treasury of the faction, as well as Grisson, Master of Whispers, who oversees information gathering operations. Look and Feel: The Wardens are inspired mainly by Rangers and so most of their faction mirrors this, or at least take the form of woodsy folk, wearing greens and browns as the core part of their clothing. Their faction members wear the symbol of a wolf head, usually in the form of a pendant. What type of players/play style might enjoy this faction: The Wardens recruit people who enjoy comradery, tactics, and are not here just to battle. How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction: Roleplay: “Our RP is more externally focused and helping each other with character quests. We do RP some intra-faction, but we also just enjoy hanging out together.” Combat: “Combat with the Wardens is tactical. On field tactics are driven by who is present, how they're armed, and what are we facing, usually under Sir Randy’s command. We also work good naturedly to help each other improve. Self-improvement makes everyone feel more accomplished, win or lose.”

Kruger took a drink from his tankard as he sat at his shop. Business was going okay but not as good as he would like. That was to be expected though as a lot of people gave their money to Sir Tanos so he could get a cursed sword that he and he alone could wield. The Conscript of the Third Mixed Regiment frowned, memories of the Second Mixed Regiment back in his homeland coming to mind. Dark spirits could corrupt and from what he heard, these demons were as dark as they could get. Suddenly, a cloaked figure approached, looking like they had been traveling. Kruger threw on a friendly smile. "Hello friend. Can I interest you in anything?" "Kruger Van Drachenstein?" The adventurer asked and Kruger swung out an arm. "The one and only. Did you need something?" The adventure produced a scroll, burned and damaged, placing it on the table. One of his scrolls asking to meet with the factions. "I couldn't find the messenger." The adventure spoke and Kruger nodded. "I see. Thank you friend. Here, take some water." Kruger said, pouring the liquid into one of the cups he had on hand. The adventurer took it and drank before wandering off, no doubt looking for rest after their journey. Kruger looked down at the scroll and a frown came to his face. Things on the roads were becoming rough again. Memories of Alduin telling him about his run in with the highwaymen before coming back to life, robbed of his possessions, came to mind. Not only that, but the orcs had been rather up front about their bloodthirstiness and from what he heard, the Destroyer was very good at doing what its name implied. Kruger glanced at the destroyed scroll and made a mental note to keep an ear out for more details on what may trouble people on the roads.

Geth "We are Geth." Background: Perhaps one of the most mysterious and secretive factions, the rest of Osterra simply describes it with one word. Geth. The faction of Geth represents the freedom of doing what you want. While the inner machinations of Geth are a mystery to all, the Great Necromancer has laid his grand plans for all Osterrans to see. To control the blasted lands and build a dark cathedral. What purpose this may serve, that is for Geth to know, and the people of Osterra to find out, perhaps before it is too late. When serving the faction of Geth, there is one rule. Don’t cross Geth or he will make you his next undead soldier. Leadership: The leader of the faction is Geth the Necromancer. (Geth) Look and Feel: The minions of Geth typically have the goal of “the darker the look, the better” but a body is a body. Geth is a powerful spellcaster after all and will use what resources he can. However, all more permanent members of the faction of Geth display a black spade with a skull on the center, anywhere on the body. What type of players/play style might enjoy this faction: People who want to have fun on the darker side of things and don’t want to be judged for it. How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction: Roleplay: “I focus more on role play but am down to have fun.” Combat: “There will be combat if you feel like it.”

The Sunsteel Company "Live your life by the tip of your blade and let no one speak down upon your name." Background: The Sunsteel Company are a company of mercenaries who formed from free men looking for a better life than could be gained from toiling in the farms and fields. Their name originates from their original gear made of “Sun Steel”, cheap metals melted down in hearths and markets. While many have upgraded to stronger metals, gained through skill and conquest, the warriors of the Sunsteel Company have not forgotten their humble origins. Their goal is to earn money to take care of their comrades and those they hold close. Leadership: The Sunsteel Company is a largely democratic faction, but the official faction head is Sigvid who organizes and negotiates contracts for the faction. Look and Feel: The Sunsteel Company has no particular inspiration, but mostly wears greens, yellows, browns, and blacks. Their faction members wear their emblem on belt flags. What type of players/play style might enjoy this faction: Sunsteel welcomes people who are inclusive and relaxed who are more into the drinking and fighting aspects. They primarily look for warriors and healers. How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction: Roleplay: “It's there for those who want it, and you get out what you put in.” Combat: “We're a mercenary group that often trains in down time and loves a good competition.”

The Vidarians "Respect all, Fear none." Background: Originally Nomadic folk, the Vidarians have united under the Great Khan, absorbing the nomadic tribes, as well as immigrants and refugees under one banner. This mixing pot of culture started with one goal that has continued on to this day. To survive in a harsh world and the warring groups that make up its inhabitants. Where there were once simple farmers, traders, craftsmen, and nomadic folk of Vetus mundi, now stands a group of mighty warriors who aim to bring success to their great Khanate and oppose any who would seek to harm their people. Leadership: The Vidarians are led by the Great Khan Vidar. Serving directly under him as his lords are the Noyans. Vidar Khan also has a contingent of bodyguards known as Keshig. (Vidar Khan) Look and Feel: The original Vidarians are mostly inspired by eastern nomadic tribes(such as Huns, Scythians, Mongols, Cumans, ect.), but due to taking in refugees and immigrants, their armies may be mixed in cultures. All members of the faction wear a red belt flag with a sword on it as their emblem. (Members of the Vidarians) What type of players/play style might enjoy this faction: The Vidarians are made of fighters to protect and expand the Khanate and diplomats to deliver messages and gain support. How is the Roleplay and Combat Focus in the faction: Roleplay: “One of our main focuses in roleplay is to keep it fun and immersive. Whether that be through combat, politics, and/or just a group to have fun with; the Vidarians are happy to help people get into the realm. Our other goals are to keep the game highly immersive through our kits and gear.” Combat: “Combat is one of our main focuses as many in the Khanate are warriors seeking fortune and glory. We take it seriously and make sure everyone is ready to fight for the Khanate.”

Kruger Van Drachenstein was born to a tavern owner mother and an exiled noble father in the town of Drachenstein in the mountainous area of his country of Holthar. The town was named after the mountains that were said to once contained monsters called drakes till his ancestor, Wilhelm and his company of soldiers drove them out. His family held no ill will towards the other Drachensteins in their mountain keep, as when Kruger was able to venture out into the town, his grandfather who exiled his father was dead and he was already friends with his cousin and the heir to the Drachenstein family, Richmond Van Drachenstein. When he was finally old enough to begin training, Kruger joined the town guard and begun training. He quickly rose up the ranks and joined the Black Wolves, the main military contingent within Drachenstein, named after a local legend about the protectors of town before the Van Drachenstein family came. The most Kruger knew was fighting bandits as the Empire of Sobukand had achieved peace thanks to the two Empresses. One day, the Empresses sent out a request for peoples of all walks from the many countries of the Empire of Sobukand to come and help colonize a new continent that had been discovered. Indeed, this would be the third expedition and Kruger would sign up to join the Third Mixed Regiment, a regiment of soldiers from every country, as a representative of the Holtharian Army. He would don the red sash of the Third Mixed Regiment and sail to the continent of Torakand to help protect the civilians that would form the new town of Layton. Kruger would find himself fighting more than just bandits in Torakand. Parasitic plants that would control bodies seeking more prey, devious pirates who went back on deals, and numerous large bat monsters known as Ahool became those he fight against. This was not counting patrols to watch out for the fallen members of the Second Mixed Regiment who were corrupted and became cannibalistic, clearing out local hostile wildlife, or warding off the giant winged monsters known as the Snallygasters. Kruger came to Torakand for a reason. His family had always been one about service. They protected the town of Drachenstein and had fought in the great Kings Wars against their rivals of Sorjund. They had achieved much, but that expectation has greatly weighed on his shoulders. While his cousin may be satisfied of being the town protector, a noble and lord up in the Drachenstein Castle and his father was fine running the Black Wolf Brewery in his hastening age, Kruger wished to obtain the glory of his ancestors. While he was a Conscript in the Third Mixed Regiment, Kruger desired to gain a title, ideally military, to capture even a little of glory for the Drachenstein name. Indeed, his wish almost came true as he became the Third's liaison to the Militia with discussion with his Captain of him even taking command of it. It was unfortunately not to be, for Layton held a device of strange magical power. It had once turned the town's citizens to ghosts and had even brought a lizard-like individual from another time and place. Kruger disliked it and wished not to go near it, however a raid from the Second Mixed Regiment forced him into the device. Suddenly, he was transported away. Away from his job that held his dreams. Away from the comrades and friends he had grown to care for. Away from his family that was once an ocean away, now far longer. He had not even learned the name of his cousin's child that was to be born. This was how Kruger Van Drachenstein found himself in Osterra, seeking a way to return home. In the mean time, he has made some new comrades, some he might even call friends. He uses the skills he gained on the frontier to earn a living by running a shop, and the skills he learned in the military to aid the faction that gave him shelter while he sought out his home. With dwindling hope of ever going home, his thoughts are now turning to his dream. Even if he cannot see his family again, he can at least gain glory in the family name through military service and titles, just like his ancestors before him.
