A missive is delivered to the council: King Foster, The ashes of the necromancer have been recovered. There was some concern as initially they were recovered by members of the Black Sky mercenary guild, who seemed inclined to auction them off. This was unacceptable to the Wardens and followers of Theros as well. After some discussion as to how this put existing alliances at risk, and clarification of their intent, this can be set aside as a poor working choice. They wished to determine if the artifact posed any threat first, and if not, to have the right to gain compensation for their efforts. However, as it appears these ashes are much more dangerous then the corrupted hearts that have been dealt with, we all agree they need to be cleansed or destroyed. For the moment a mixed force Wardens, Black Sky & Therosians are transporting the ashes to the shared fort at Cailenstadt where they will be kept under a mixed faction guard so that all dealings are above board. This seems a good combination of a defendable position, away from most of the population, yet close enough to be available for the next step, whatever that may be. If a convocation of those most holy could be called, we believe they may be able to come up with a way to deal with this vile substance before it's evil can cause more harm. Until we receive word of the time and place for such a gathering, or orders otherwise from yours and the council, we shall keep the ashes under watch. For the kingdom, Sir Randy Captain of the Wardens

Excerpt from Randy's report to the council; "... My small band of volunteers and I backtracked the Orcs from their camp as far as we could, but lost the trail a few days out. They used streams and trails frequented by bandits for much of their travels, a few bands of which we had to dispatch. It served as a good tactical exercise. The volunteers saw firsthand how the forest cover was more useful to us than to the bandits, as they had no bowmen. When I have a few more recruits, I'll look to get these woods cleared for the safety of the locals. The Orc trail eventually broke out to a midsize road, with a well traveled crossroad nearby. They must have made use of the roads in the night to cover more distance, knowing the daily traffic would cover their tracks. There are still a few out scouting, hopefully one of them finds a sign. In the meantime, I shall join the party escorting Sir Gareth to his portal, to serve as additional security for those returning after we have seen him off. Now, as to the matter of recruits, here are a few I think hold promise..."
